Removing Permanent Marker From Clothes

Removing permanent marker from fabrics may seem impossible, but there are a few methods that work great for removing stains made with permanent markers. The following methods use items you probably already have on hand and are simple to do.
Rubbing alchohol
Place a paper towel or napkin under the stained fabric before beginning. Dip a dry cloth or cotton ball into the rubbing alcohol, and dab on the permanent marker stain. The stain gradually disappears. After the stain is gone, wash the garment as usual.
Hairspray
Yes, hairspray removes permanent marker stains from clothes. Just dampen the fabric with water, and apply some hairspray to a paper towel. Blot the stain with the paper towel. The stain fades. Then wash the garment as usual.
Milk
Milk may not seem like an odd choice for stain removal, but it does work. Fill a bowl or other container with milk, and soak the garment. The milk takes on the color of the permanent marker stain. Change the milk several times if necessary to completely remove the stain, and launder as usual.
Vinegar
Vinegar does not have the most pleasant smell, but it works well for removing permanent marker stains from clothes. Soak the stained article of clothing in vinegar for about an hour, and then launder as usual. The garment comes out of the washing machine stain free and without the vinegar smell.
Permanent marker stains do not have to ruin your clothes if you know a few tricks. These simple methods using household items remove the stain and keep your clothes looking great.
