Permanent Markers

How permanent are permanent markers, and what solvents best remove the ink?

This is the question for my science fair projects. I can't seem to find any very useful info, please please help and leave your source! Thanks!

1. lol i was just writing random stuff in my hand with permanent marker when this question came up,they go away easy just use water.
2. Rubbing alcohol takes it right off
