How do I remoisten dryed out magic markers?

I remember hearing somewhere that the tip of a marker could be dipped in some household chemical to restore the color.

1. i don't think that works you should just buy new ones
2. Permanent inks require isopropyl alcohol to separate, while washable markers require only water.
