Permanent Markers

I used permanent markers to decorate my shoes but they come off easily. How can I preserve them?

I used permanent markers to decorate my shoes but they come off easily. How can I preserve them? They come off due to weather etc. and i didnt know if there was a spray/glaze/etc. that could help keep the markers ink on the shoes and not come off. Thanks.
