How do you remove sticker residue from a whiteboard?

I have a whiteboard in my classroom that I use for weekly schedule for my classes, but before I got ahold of it it had a series of name labels with a standard adhesive backing on it. While I was able to remove most of them ithout a problem, there are several that I couldn't get off completely so now every week when I erase the board, it has this residue on it that smears everywhere and makes parts of the board useless. I would welcome any ideas on how to remedy this problem.

1. I would try Goo Gone, you can get it in any store, like walgreens, rite aid, walmart fredmeyers, ect. I use that at work a lot because it takes off sticky residue ect. hope that helps
2. There's a product called Goo-Gone that works nicely--check a small area first to make sure it doesn't damage the board.
3. If you want a quick home remedy, try some olive oil or vegetable oil. Dab a cotton ball in the oil. Hold the oil over the area in question for a few moments to let it soak in and then start rubbing. It should come off quite easily. Of course, clean the board with the appropriate cleaner to get the oil residue off and you're all set! :-)
4. Acetone. Much cheaper than go gone and can be got at any hardware store. 1 quart will last years. Just make sure the windows are wide open, and you wash the board with soap and water after,
