Permanent Markers

Can you get rid of permanent magic marker stains?

I tried some bleach pens, and bleach on my hat, but it didn't work. But what about clothes? I tried Zout, but it didn't work. They've already been washed and dried to though. Any secret remedies or solutions, or should I go ahead and trash the clothes? It was from shaking a "dry" marker. Ruined a $50 pair of pants, and a one of a kind shirt.

  1. cheap hairspray removes inks from anything rinse in cold water then wash a couple times to remove the hairspray
  2. I found out by accident once that a really strong insect repellent takes off permanent marker, but I've never tried it on clothes. It was Off Deep Woods with Deet. I used it to get permanent marker off of my dorm room wall, and it actually started dissolving paint too...
  3. Well, this might not work since they've already been washed, but the only thing I know of that works miracles on ink, sharpie permanent market included and inkpads too is plain old rubbing alcohol... Just rub with alcohol till the ink comes out. If it doesn't, then yes, trash the clothes because if rubbing alcohol doesn't work, nothing will.
