Permanent Markers

What can I use to remove permanent marker stains?

I need to use my old calculator from last year for this year. The only problem is, I had kinda drew things on it with permanent marker. Are there any household solutions I can use to remove the permanent marker from the Case of the calculator? My mom said Alcohol might work, but I'm curious is there's anything else that could possibly do the trick.

1. Nail polish remover got it out of the drum of my dryer.
2. Try mineral spirits. You can get it at Wal-Mart.
3. Mr Clean Magic Eraser! I work at Starbucks and it got Sharpie off our counters. I also marked the back of my computer monitor with a permanent marker and the Magic Eraser got it right out, even though I didn't clean it off for like a month. Those things really are magic!
4. Try Shout Out or and I don't know the exact name of it but on tv have seen ads by Billy Mays for stuff.
5. I wrote our name on a rubbermaid container like 10 years ago with permanent marker. It has been washed by hand and dishwasher many, many times since then and never came off. I sprayed it with greased lightening and let it sit a bit then washed it with a Mr clean eraser and it came totally off. I swear by those two. I use them for everything. Give it a try.
6. Hair spray works really good on getting magic marker off of things.
