Whiteboard Friday Knowledge Base

How can I hook up my smartboard? So I started to hook up my smartboard (interactive whiteboard) on Friday and am already stuck. It is an older smartboard and it doesn't seem the hookups will work with my computer. I had the hookup that goes into the smartboard and also plugs in. The greenlight was on and ready to go. The next hookup connected to that cord but had a really old 8-pin connector that when I searched the internet says works only with old apple computers. I checked even my oldest IMac computers and no such luck. So I tried just skipping that little connector and going straight from the cord to my computer.... no such luck there either. HOWEVER, I was able to connect that cord to the projector. Then I tried taking another cord to go from the projector to my computer. At this point, I am thinking I have it ready to go... no such luck. The computer does not recognize the smartboard. Does anyone know if that will work to go through the projector to the computer or do I need to go straight to the computer? If I can go through the projector is there a way to turn on the smartboard or something so that the computer can recognize the smartboard?
Do you believe in dressing modestly? Do you think my religion teacher is a hypocrite? My religion professor was giving us a lecture on chastity. She said that it involves dressing modestly. Well, she wore her tight leather pants the day after; on Friday (very revealing and disturbing by the way) and a tiny red shirt. When she tried to write notes on the whiteboard it went all the way up to her belly button.
What's a good Christian song? I have to bring in a song on Friday for music class (CD) and explain the meaning. Since I'm in a Christian school my teacher will only accept Christian songs. Please recommend some good songs I can choose from and preferbly have a meaning. On the whiteboard there were examples like U2, Paramore, Flyleaf, etc. Try to recommend a song from a band/singer that will definitely have their CD in a store. I'm clueless on Christian music or any genres lol. Thanks!
My tutor??? ..in love with me? I go walk to my tutorial center everyday and do my homework, assignments and projects there, and sometimes review my lessons there when I have time to spare. And since the first day I've been tutored there, I was assigned to this tutor, He was a 21-year old college graduate who majored in History, he was really nice to me and the way he explains my lessons to me helped me understand them even more, while I was at it, he somehow bonded with me a bit, he started treating me like I was his age like at times, he'd pat my back or call me a nickname which I find cute but let's all cut to the chase! Today, (August 22, 2008, Friday.) He asked me to go over to the whiteboard and solve an equation, and while I was answering it, he asked me this "Do you love me as your teacher??" I was terribly shocked, and disgusted by that question, I didn't want to aswer because he might have gotten the wrong idea. So I just kept quiet and said "Wait.. Let me solve this first 'cher." So after my tutoring session, I walked home and as soon as I arrived home, I ran upstairs to my room, locked the door and screamed in my pillow, letting all the anger and pain get out of my system. My mother warned me that if anything strange happens like how he behaves towards me, I should tell her immediately, but I'm a bit afraid to confront this matter to my mother, she might go over to my tutorial center and start ranting at my tutors or even sue them for that matter (since my mother just so happens to be a judge.) So I thought that I could solve this on my own, but I sort of need some help in this one, first of all: 1.) Is he in love with me? If not, why is he acting that way to me? 2.) Should I tell my mother about this? If yes, how should I confront my mother about this certain problem without shocking her? 3.) Is there anything I could do to solve this problem? if there is any way though.. Please answer this, I'm in dire need of help and that I need answers.. Thank you all for reading. NOTE: I REALLY HATE HIM!! SO MUCH!!! and besides.. I'm already in love with someone else (in which I'll make another question about *lols*.) Once again, thank you all for reading. I also remember a few other incidents: 1st: I walked into the tutorial, at that day, I wore a simple T-Shirt, leggings and Havaianas, and when I entered the tutorial, my tutor saw me and smiled at me and said "Wow! you're so pretty!". 2nd: My tutor was reviewing me in Biology, he asked me "What is the difference in Mitosis and Meiosis?" I forgot the answer and I replied "Uhhmm... uhh I forgot, what's the answer?" and he just smiled, chuckled and rubbed my back. 3rd: While my tutor was reviewing me, one of the helpers brought in biscuits for my tutor and I to eat, but I didn't really want to eat because it was high on sugary fat and because I was on a diet, so I said "No thanks, it's kinda fatty." and my tutor said to me "Why? you're already sexy anyway" and he laughed. NOTE: This is what really happened, and none of it was made up at all! (except for the 2nd one, I forgot what subject he was reviewing me with, but that's not the point, HE RUBBED MY BACK.)
Can you give me some constructive critisism? *I realize it's really long, but I was wondering if you guys could give me some constructive critisism. It's for a 7th grade writing class and I want to enter it in a contest. Thanks!* The good fought the evil, won, and lived happily ever after. That's how it always goes. The same things repeat over and over again, forming an almost fact: The good always win, and the evil suffers. I stare at the now blank whiteboard. I can hear the quiet conversations between the girls in the back of the class, giggling and chattering on and on about their hair. I turn back to the corner of my notebook to finish doodling. The pattern was simple- two vertical lines, two horizontal lines, and circles in the boxes that the lines created. As I wait for the last bell to ring, I see Derek whisper to the guy next to him, snickering and looking my way. I give him the daggers, my lips tight against each other. He flinches but turns around to his friend and conspicuously mouths, “Psycho.” I am not psycho. I am not mental, I am not evil or a ghost lingering around. I’m usually in the wrong place at the wrong time, causing an accident, riot, weird, unexplainable situations. Of course, no one believes that. To them, I am the different one, the mental, psychopath 13 year old Emma Gregory. My family says I was a mistake, an accident that was not meant to be. They are ashamed to be seen with me and afraid that I really am evil. No one knows how much that hurts, to be unwanted and ignored. It was a huge gap in my life that I couldn’t fill up like the squares in my notebook. The bell rings, and I out the door before anyone else. Senora Rachelle yells at me to slow down, but I don’t care. It’s Friday-no homework. The purgatory is finally over, and I can go to my happy place. The fifth graders stare at me, but I keep walking, ignoring them. I am running now-the scenery around something close to a blur, and the wind blows my hair away from my face. I dash to the park, go behind the bushes and fences where the small pine tree stands, unnoticed by most. Under the tree, there is a meadow. It’s just a patch of grass-not too big, not too small. There’s something about this place that makes my head cool down and my heartbeat calm. This is my sanctuary, the only place I can be by myself for hours without being disturbed. It smells like nothing but grass. This is my own and personal heaven. I close my eyes, turn my back against the fence, and lay down. Not too long after that, I hear a stream of curse words coming from behind me. I peek over the fence. There’s a gang of high school footballers drinking. People stare, but don’t do anything about it. I put my head down, fiddling with my fingers. “…Can’t believe we lost that game…curse that Emma Gregory kid…” I overhear. My head jerks back up. There is a sudden fire burning in my chest. No one had any right to blame me for everything bad that happened. “…Probably a modern day witch or something. Have you seen those big creepy eyes?…” The heat roars and rises up to my face. It’s probably the color of pepperoni. Modern day witch? Where did they think they were, in a Hollywood movie? Yeah, and while you’re at it, why don’t we grab me a broom and frizz my hair? Suddenly, out of nowhere, something invisible slams the guys with a strong force-they fly five feet from where they are standing. With no apparent reason, I focus on the one that has the Nike hat. The force strikes him again, but leaves the others alone. I leave the Nike boy alone and move onto the next one, and the same thing happens. I stop. My fire cools, and I find my nails digging into my palm. I release them as they reveal four clear, pink lines. The gang is freaking out. The big one is punching the smallest one, and the others are running away. So am I. I grab my backpack and only look in front of me, nowhere else. What was I running from? The fear? The guilt? I don’t know. I move my feet at impossible speed, almost hysterically. It feels like I’m walking on air, above the clouds, the sunrays attacking me. By the time I reach the house, my lungs are about to explode. Justin and Amber are sitting on the dining table doing their homework. Amber gives me a face, one of her let’s-make-Emma-feel-crappy-again looks. Justin ignores me, and continues to eat his pizza. Mom is doing the dishes. She glares at me, just like Amber, but it stings, and carves into my heart. I stomp up to my room and shut the door behind me. My heartbeat increases and before I know it, I am hyperventilating. Sweat rolls down my face as I try to calm myself down. I toss my small body onto the mattress, like a rag doll. My arms and legs feel numb. Hours must have passed. I wake, and everything is dark. I fight the temptation to go back to sleep, and sit up, my back throbbing in the process. My eyes sockets feel empty, and my brain bangs against my head. The voices repeat in my head: “ here's the rest... http://24starsofthesky.blogspot.com/2010/07/voices-repeat-in-my-head-curse-that.html here's the rest... http://24starsofthesky.blogspot.com/2010/07/voices-repeat-in-my-head-curse-that.html
